Toxic Tech, Book 3 in my Gainfully Employed Mystery series released yesterday as part of a box set of a dozen brand new mysteries. The authors of the set are donating every penny of our royalties to 2 no-kill shelters, so if you love great mysteries and fur babies, we'd be very grateful if you'd invest $0.99 on this fun set!
Blaise Runa, the heroine of Toxic Tech, has some advice on how to survive multiple interview sessions. Blaise's tips might be a little…erm…unique, but nobody knows how to look for a job better than the woman who's made a living doing it!
Training for that Endless Interview Day
Training for a day of multiple interviews is a multi-pronged effort involving warm-up exercise, adequate nutrition, and a positive attitude.
First, let's tackle the exercise. If you're going to have a job where you sit all day…you have this nailed. Why? Because you're going to be sitting for the interviews. Check! If you're trying for a job where you'll be moving around a lot, you might want to take a brief walk to warm and loosen your muscles. The walk from the bedroom to the coffee maker should just about do it. You don't want to overdo and make yourself tired, after all!
Now that you're good and warm, it's time to stock your system with the perfect nutrition to carry you through the day. I recommend a hearty meal of eggs, bacon, fruit and a donut. The eggs and bacon will stick to your ribs like food on a toddler's cheeks. The fruit is full of helpful vitamins and water for hydration. And the donut will blast into your system and give you a jolt of quick energy. Then don your slacks with the stomach hiding band in the front because you're going to look like a happy tick on a dog's behind after that breakfast!
Time to find that positive attitude. This will be fairly easy to accomplish in the morning, rested, full belly, and dry armpits. But as the day wears on, you might find your happy place evading you completely. This could be a good time to break out that extra donut you stashed in your purse. Yeah, nice try hiding that one from me! Just a quick stop in the ladies room to shove that sucker down and you're good to go! Make sure you scrape the glaze off your lips before you return to your interviews.
If the donut doesn't work you can always jump on your smartphone and order those ridiculously expensive four inch high heels in the faux leapard skin you know you really shouldn't buy. The happy juice from that purchase should carry you well into the evening.
Stay Tuned for more tips from Blaise!
